New Member Spotlight: Blue Planet Lawn
Last March when SLCgreen was attending the Intermountain Sustainability Summit, some of our team members had an opportunity to meet Christoph Heinrich and learn more about his expanding green lawncare business.
Blue Planet Lawn, who we learned does much of their business for Salt Lake City clients, operates all of its lawn equipment and transportation using exclusively electric equipment. This was a particularly compelling concept for to our department, who would be launching our landscaping equipment exchange later that spring as part of the Clean Air SLC campaign.
Our team agreed that Blue Planet would be a fantastic addition to the e2 Sustainable Business Program, and we were happy to bring them on board later this last May. In addition to using only battery-powered yard care equipment and a fleet of electric vehicles, Christoph also highlighted that Blue Planet’s equipment is powered using mobile solar powered chargers. This last feature, along with a general expansion of the business, was thanks to UCAIR grant they received in the last year. In addition to using emissions-free equipment, Blue Planet also employs sustainable landscaping practices such as mulching and utilizing native plants.
In the coming year, Blue Planet’s goal is to perform an efficient lighting upgrade in its new space. We’re glad to have Blue Planet on our e2 roster and will look forward to seeing them out there this summer keeping our yards and air looking good.
